How to make banners and frames in Cricut Design Space [+Free SVG file]
Have you ever wanted to make your own designs but were too overwhelmed or didn’t want to pay for a third-party design program? With this tutorial, you can make your own banners and frames right in Cricut design space. You don’t need Inkscape or Illustrator! (Though I highly recommend them as they open so many doors.)
Banners and frames really make scrapbooking and cards pop. Thanks to the Cricut design space, you are actually able to create these yourself without another design program. Let me show you how easy it is to make these!
Traditionally, you would only be able to create these banners and frames with a design program like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. But I’ve found a way for you to create these in Cricut Design Space. With this tutorial, you’ll be a master at the weld function in design space. And you’ll get to practice your slice skills as well!

HOW TO MAKE BANNERS AND FRAMES IN CRICUT DESIGN SPACE

STEP 1: OPEN UP DESIGN SPACE
Open up your Cricut Design Space
STEP 2: CREATE BANNER OUTLINE
Select the text tool and create a “{“.
Here is what it will look like in Cricut Design Space:
Resize it so it’s big enough for us to work with.
Duplicate the layer.
Flip the new layer horizontally.
Make the top and bottom of the banner frame by duplicating the layer two more times and rotating it 90 degrees.
STEP 3: WELD TO MAKE A FRAME
Select all of the layers and click on Weld.
STEP 4: FILL IT IN
Let’s fill in the frame so we can use it as a base.
Since there is no paint bucket tool in design suite, we will have to improvise.
Select the square shape.
Click the “lock” button so you are able to adjust both the width and height. When the shape is locked, it will be resized proportionally. We don’t want this when we are filling in the banner.
Weld the square to the banner frame.
Now let’s fill it in more. I’ve used 4 triangle shapes and two square ones to fill in the remaining space.
Weld all the pieces to the frame.
Once you’ve welded it all together, it should look like this:
