DIY Halloween Treat Bags using Cricut [Free Halloween SVG files]

These Halloween treat bags are so easy to make using your Cricut. They are the perfect way to hand out candy with minimal contact. Grab the ghost, pumpkin and bat free svg files below!

Halloween is a night when all of the princesses, ghosts, and goblins will be out and about. This year we will be handing out candy but are trying to minimize the amount of contact people will be having with the candy. These free Halloween SVG treat bags are the perfect DIY to make with your Cricut to give out candy at a Halloween party or school.

MATERIALS TO MAKE THE HALLOWEEN TREAT BAGS

• Cricut Maker or Explore Air 2

• Cricut Tools

• Light Grip Cutting Mat (the 12″x 12″ size)

• Cricut Fine Point Blade

• Scoring Wheel

• Cardstock

• Clear plastic bags (I used sandwich bags but you can also use Clear Poly Bags)

• A glue stick

• A stapler

• My free SVG files (you will need access to my free resource library below)

HOW TO MAKE THE HALLOWEEN TREAT BAGS

STEP 1: GET THE FREE SVG FILE

Get the free SVG files from the Free Resource Library.

STEP 2: PREPARE FILES

Upload the files. There are three different files – a ghost, a pumpkin and a bat SVG file. They are ready to cut for 12×12 cardstock but if you’d prefer to cut for 8.5×11 you can delete the last column. (Make sure you delete the entire group)

We need to do a few things before we go to make our cut.

First we need to Ungroup. Only click this once!

Next we need to select our three scoring lines (they should be the top three layers). Select these lines and change them to score by going to Linetype > Score.

Next select all of the layers.

Click Attach.

STEP 3: CUT IT OUT

You’ll know your project is ready to cut when you only see 1 mat with all three treat bags on it. If you see more than one mat, go back and make sure you attached everything or that you set the linetype to score.

Follow the prompts to cut out the design.

You will need to change your blade from the scoring tip to the fine point blade mid-way through the cut.

The cut setting I used on the Cricut Maker is Heavy Cardstock.

For the Maker: I used the single score tip but you can also use double score (which is what Cricut will recommend).

For the Explore Air 2: follow the prompts and use your scoring pen when it asks you to.

STEP 4: WEED YOUR DESIGN

Carefully weed your designs. If you are using the recommended cardstock and your the heavy cardstock setting, it should come off very easily.

STEP 5: ASSEMBLE THE TREAT BAG

Fold along each of the score lines.

Prepare your candy but taking a few pieces of candy and putting it into your bag. Fold your bag in a way that will fit the treat bag. Keep the “open end” of the bag at the top and then staple this to your treat bag. (The top of the window.)

Put a streak of glue across the top fold (right below the pumpkin/bat/ghost pop-out) and glue down the flap.
