New to Yoto?

If you are new to Yoto, take a moment to read about what a Yoto player is, what it can do and which one you should get.

How to Listen to Harry Potter on the Yoto Player

The full Harry Potter series is now available as Yoto Cards, featuring the full 116 hours of narration. They are available to purchase individually or in various bundles and are suitable for children age 7 and older.

Before Yoto’s release, Harry Potter lovers could create their own Make-Your-Own cards to listen on the Yoto player. With Yoto’s newest card release, you can add the magic of the Wizarding world at home by buying the cards directly from Yoto.

Let’s take a look at these cards and how they compare to MYO options.

When we first received the cards, we were wowed by how shiny they were. These were the first cards we have seen that have foil on the cards and packaging. It was a nice little touch that made the cards feel “premium”.

As with all of the Yoto cards, there are cute Yoto icons for each chapter of the book and we were really excited to see what icons were selected for each one.

By the way, if you are looking for this version of these beautiful Harry Potter books featured in the pictures of this blog post, you can find them here.

One important thing to note about these cards is that the narrator is different depending on which region you purchase the cards from. The stories will follow the North American or UK version, which is the same story with some minor differences (e.g. North America has always been Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone vs UK’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone).

From North America, the cards are narrated by Jim Dale. While in the UK the cards are narrated by Stephen Fry. And, the French cards are narrated by Bernard Giraudeau.

So if you prefer one narrator over another and happen to be in that region, you can purchase cards from another region and play them on your Yoto at home (despite buying cards from a different region).

Isn’t it cheaper to just Make My Own Yoto Card?

Since the Harry Potter Yoto Cards might be one of the most expensive Yoto cards currently available, I had questioned if going the Make Your Own Card path would be cheaper.

You might be surprised to learn that it’s more expensive to Make-Your-Own (MYO) Harry Potter Yoto Cards.

Take a look at this breakdown:

YotoAudibleLibro.fm
Price$29.99 USD$29.99 USD$31.49 USD

As you can see, the price is the same for the audiobook and the official Yoto card when bought outright. Then you have to also add the cost of purchasing the physical itself as well as making the card art sticker, and finding, uploading and adding each individual icon for each chapter (super time-consuming).

The only way that an alternative would come out cheaper would be either by:

  1. Borrowing the Audiobook from your local library (take a look at our Yoto library system here) but then you would have to remove the files when the loan expires or
  2. Purchasing from Audible using credits (normally around $14.95 USD per credit), but even then you still have to make your own sticker art and find and add each chapter icon individually. (If you’ve ever done this yourself, you’ll quickly realize how much work this actually is.)

Where can I get a discount on the Harry Potter Yoto Cards?

It is yet to be seen if Yoto will have any discounts on the Harry Potter Collection, but by joining Yoto’s subscription service, the Yoto Club, you can get 10% off in the Yoto store.

This is a great way to get your collection started and allows you to purchase the Yoto at any time of the year without having to worry about promos.

Yoto has promotions throughout the year and while they are limited, they are a great time to stock up on cards and accessories.
